I was raised to be quiet when adults spoke, so I would listen as he scribbled out what he envisioned to be the winning maneuvers. In one ear and out the other was my go-to response.

Whistle blown and ball inbounded to me, I raced the length and watched the ball float from my fingertips and into the basketball for another victory.

Why talk, when I could act? Why say, when I could show?
